Cars in Germany's Town Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement State

Officers stated they were contacted by a resident who noticed a vehicle in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a statement.

Officers state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then found multiple other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police report initial examinations indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no indication as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the event," they added.

City officials stated they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for details.

A senior official stated the attack made him stunned and had to be solved promptly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
