Two Detentions Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault resulted in the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Police detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals injured by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
